KIDS 1st Academy
The First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville believes that the value of the family unit is basic to a healthy community. The primary goal of each of our Kids 1st Academy programs is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to grow mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. This goal is achieved through guidance and age-appropriate, enriching activities that are designed to support the overall development of each child.
Kids 1st Academy programs include:
- An Infant Nursery/Toddler Program
- Three Preschool classrooms (Two, Three, & Four Year Old’s)
- Elementary Extended Care Programs (After School, Full Day and Summer Care.)
Our Nursery and Toddler classes are primarily care classes.
Our Two Year Old class is a transitional class which introduces students to structured curriculum, and our Three and Four Year Old classes are structured preschool classes which help prepare children for entrance into Kindergarten. All of our classes provide learning and play opportunities for young children that are based upon the specific age of the students within each class. We use the Abeka curriculum.
All classrooms in our Preschool Programs are encouraged throughout the month to incorporate other activities to enhance their lessons such as science experiments, cooking experiences, and other resources that are available. In addition to our enhanced learning experiences, we offer gross motor classes to all of our students throughout the week. Bible, circle, and center times are also conducted daily. We provide a morning and afternoon snack.
